The irrigation water behind every kilo.
Before
Irrigation logged in a notebook, never checked against crop needs.
Now
A daily irrigation recommendation and water per kilo, even offline.
A field and irrigation log on the phone for growers: they record irrigation, field work and harvests even with no signal, and the platform works out the cost of the cycle, how much to irrigate each day and the water behind every kilo delivered.
The full case
The problem
The irrigation log gets written in a notebook and copied into a spreadsheet later, when nothing compares it against what the crop needs. Without data that can be checked there is no baseline, and without a baseline there is no way to know whether a field is over- or under-irrigated.
What was built
An app that works offline, where every entry takes a few taps. Liters come from pumping hours times the source's flow, and each morning it recommends how much to irrigate using the FAO-56 method and the weather forecast for the plot. From there come the Excel log, the audit file and water and carbon per kilo — every figure with its formula in view.
Status
Works end to end with demo data and is looking for irrigation growers for its first pilot. The irrigation recommendation is built; field validation is next.
